Our Small Farm: A Big Change

It has been a little while since I made a post. Life got very busy, as we have been through a lot of changes lately. The biggest is that we left the city, and we moved to the country to live on a small farm that now is ours.  We have been really enjoying every bit of it. Every day is a new adventure and discovery.

There are many things to do with maintenance and fixing. Fortunately, my husband grew up on a farm, and whatever we don’t know, we will figure out together as we go along. The main project right now is the renovations in our house. Our place came with a farm house from the 1930’s, so we have been giving it a little bit of love, making it ours.

In the present, I have been enjoying the land, connecting with it. I want to take it slow and soak it in. Being in nature makes me feel more whole and at peace. I love being outside even when it’s very cold. I used to have to drive somewhere to have a walk in nature; now it is just outside my door. Even the stars are brighter without the city lights. Everything is more charming with different views of my surroundings, so my camera goes with me on every walk.

Things will be a bit slower here now that it is winter, and hopefully everything will hold together until spring. For the time being, we are content to curl up by the wood stove and stay cozy warm.

Our harvest moon…

Our pond, complete with shy beavers…

Juniper the curious girl…

 Always on time to eat…

Enjoying the moonrise…

Blue Jay…

The roaming-free sheep that show up now and then to sample our grass…

Winter has arrived…

Catching the light of the sunset…
